Renovation of beach house, Srima, Auroville 2000

The existing layout of a series of closed rooms with their back to the sea, were all opened out in an open plan in the new renovation concept, with big fenestrations making the sea, visually a very integral part of the house. In addition, a verandah, garden & swimming pool were added onto the seafacing part of the house. Traditional tile roof for the verandah, Indian patent stone coloured pigment flooring, wooden furniture, granite copings and brick chimney lend a vernacular character to the house.
